Marvin's Room is a 1996 drama starring Meryl Streep and Diane Keaton as two sisters, Lee (Streep) and Bessie (Keaton) who have been apart for twenty years. Lee lives in Ohio and Bessie is in Florida caring for their bed-ridden father (possibly Marvin). Lee has a troubled son named Hank, who burnt down Lee's house a few years ago, and therefore, he was sent to a mental institution. Bessie finds out from her doctor (Robert De Niro) that she has leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. So Lee tries to get Hank out of the asylum for a week to see if he'll give Bessie some bone marrow. Hank is skeptical when Lee tells him about Bessie. Eventually, Hank's love for Bessie grows more and more and they become the best of friends. My favorite scene is where Hank drives with Bessie on the beach and the water comes crashing up onto the windows and they laugh.
